Thanks to the Calhoun Family!
We would like to thank a member of the Miracle Flights for Kids “family”, the Calhoun family in Cumming, Georgia, for supporting our efforts in raising over $400.00 by hosting a fundraiser in their community to support Miracle Flights for Kids. Their son, Jason, has flown from Georgia to Arizona for treatment 2 times so far through the assistance provided by Miracle Flights for Kids.
We extend our since gratitude to the Calhoun’s and all other participants and donors who made this possible. Thank you for your consideration and kindness by spreading help and hope to other children.
Jason’s story
Jason is a happy 4 year old boy. Last year in September, Miracle Flight flew us out to Barrow Neurological Institute to have a brain tumor called a Hypothalamic Hamartoma (HH) that was causing seizures removed from the center of his brain. Since then Jason has suffered from some complications. He has had memory loss, mild weakness on his left side, and fourth nerve palsy in his right eye, but the main complication is that he continues to gain weight. Jason was 35 pounds going into surgery and now, almost a year later, he weighs 70 pounds! The weight has started to take a toll on Jason’s heart and he has high blood pressure.
After many doctor visits with his specialist team here in Georgia, and having little success our pediatrician here, the specialist on the HH team in Phoenix that performed his surgery has agreed Jason needs to go back to Phoenix Children’s Hospital so they may try to figure out what is causing all of this. While in Phoenix Jason will see the HH team and hopefully get Jason feeling better and like himself again.
Thank you Miracle Flight for all you have done and continue to do for our family and many others with sick children. You truly are making miracles happen!
